Complications in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab – Avoidance, Recognition and Management

Eron Sturm, MD, offers an insightful discussion of coronary complications in the catheterization lab, and how to avoid and manage them should they occur. Among the complications Dr. Sturm considers are vessel and aortic injury, coronary perforation, stent embolization, catheter-induced dissection, no-reflow events and structural heart issues. Dr. Sturm offers guidance for risk stratification and patient selection, pre- and peri-procedural imaging optimization, and stent and sheath size choice.
