The Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center is a state-of- the-art, seven-story pavilion designed to facilitate and expedite the coordinated flow of care for the critically ill or injured patient. The pavilion contains service elevators that connect the emergency department, trauma bay and helipad to permit rapid, smooth transition for patients through the facility. The floor design incorporates warm, home-like finishes, floor-to-ceiling windows, noise-cancelling glass doors and visitor lounges on each floor.
The ICU has 20 patient rooms carefully designed with 3 distinct zones per room. The rooms are set up for easy access to all the equipment and frequently used supplies at the bedside for nurses and clinicians. Special care was taken in creating stress-relief resting stations for our staff. Our ICU building provides staff, patients, and visitors access to the information and equipment they need while surrounded by a warm, calming aesthetic that relieves stress and promotes healing.
