Dr. Albert D’Angelantonio, III, FACFAS, discusses the potential effects of high heeled shoes (>2.5”) on foot structure and stability, including achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis and deformity of the forefoot and toes, and the damage that may occur at the knees, hips and back as these injuries develop. Dr. D’Angelantonio then outlines the management of high heel shoe-related injuries, which, initiated by weight-bearing x-rays for accurate diagnosis, can range from minimally invasive surgery to major reconstructive surgery.
Dr. D’Angelantonio sees patients at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, Penn Medicine Cherry Hill and Penn Medicine Woodbury Heights.
