Fecal Microbiota Transplantation for Clostridium Difficile Infection

According to the Centers for Disease Control, Clostridium Difficile (C diff) affects 250,000 persons each year in the U.S and contributes to 14,000 deaths, primarily among persons aged 65 and older. In this presentation, infectious disease specialist Brendan Kelly, MD, examines fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) in the context of refractory C diff infection, reviews the pathophysiology of C diff infection and offers an overview of the FMT procedure, its outcomes and benefits.
